Balancing the Past with the Present

I was proud to read the Cherokee Nation (the tribe my mother’s paternal grandmother belonged to) became the 59th tribe to join the Intertribal Buffalo Counsel, an initiative of seemingly nonsensical objectives to the non-native citizenry perhaps, is a noble gesture, too little, too late, but nonetheless, a powerful metaphor in the balancing act that is restoring a modicum of dignity  to the American Indian.
